2008/2009
50/50
Overview
Well, it’s that time of year again
and we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every
individual who participated in last year’s 50/50 draw, in any
capacity. As a recap, the overall draw was a tremendous success
and was well received in the community. This acceptance of the
program was somewhat anticipated as Corner Brook has traditionally
always been a strong Minor Hockey Community. The following

This program offered an
opportunity to make Minor Hockey Affordable for ALL kids in the
Corner Brook and surrounding areas by giving back through
commissions to the parents/kids for each ticket sold. The overall
goals for last year of achieving financial independence, giving
back to the kids and their families and to minimally assist
traveling teams were met. After review of the program, the
committee has decided to continue with this program for the 2008 –
2009 season at least up to the Christmas break.
A.
Our Goal
Our goal remains the same as last
and that is to maintain Financial Independence for the
Association, provide more flexibility for traveling teams, offer
reductions in fees when funds permit and provide an avenue for
each member to reduce there financial commitments to hockey by
offering a 20% commission for each ticket sold. Our goals can only
be achieved if there is full participation from each and every
member of the association. How can you participate? That’s easy,
simply pick-up and sell a minimum of 3 books of tickets
each week. With this minimum contribution of each player, we will
ensure that the fundraising program stays on track and that all
members of the association will benefit.
B.
Your Commitment
Each player is asked to pick-up &
sell a minimum of 3 books of tickets (30 tickets @ $1.00 each) for
the duration of the program. Those who participate through the
entire season will be rewarded in the following ways:
1.
Each player
can earn 20% commission from the sale of tickets. (Commissions to
retained by the player selling the tickets)
2.
Rep teams
can earn 5% of weekly sales to a maximum of $500.00 for
administering the weekly draws.
C.

Minor Hockey Association in the following way:

selling tickets 20%

NOTE:

D.
Distribution and Retail Opportunities
The Lotto Committee will keep
track of how many tickets each player sells weekly. Distribution
will be through the House League coaches or designated team
representative as well as at the table set up for the collection
of tickets on each Sunday at the Kinsmen Arena Entrance. We
strongly encourage the use of local retail businesses in the area
as methods of selling your tickets. We will make every effort to
make available posters for use in the retail businesses. Each
player is solely responsible for the tickets distributed to them.
E.
Draw Information
This will be a weekly draw every
Sunday beginning on October 19, 2008 and continuing until Sunday
December 21, 2008 before Christmas. Weekly winners and general
information will be available on the Minor Hockey Web Site at
www.cbmha.com.
The 50/50 Lotto Committee or Rep
Team representatives will be in the Kinsmen Entrance every Sunday
beginning October 19, 2008 between Noon and 4:00 pm for the
collections of all outstanding tickets. Tickets can also be
dropped off in the secure black safe located in the canteen area
or the minor hockey room. Next weeks tickets that may not have
already been issued by the coaches will also be available. Once
the House teams have been selected, the distribution of these
tickets will be through the coaching staff first. It may take some
time to get the teams sorted out. Until then parents are asked to
help make this program a huge success by ensuring that their
tickets are picked up on Saturday and returned each Sunday before
the draw.
EACH PARENT AND
PLAYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SOLD AND UNSOLD TICKETS.
F.
A few Points to Consider
I.
The success of
the Program Depends entirely on the full participation of each
member. The more you sell, the more you earn, the more the
association benefits WE SEE IT AS A WIN, WIN, WIN SITUATION.
LET’S MAKE IT WORK TOGETHER.
II.
This is an excellent
fundraiser for the Divisional Rep Teams (5% of sales to a maximum
of $500.00) for administering a weekly draw.
III.
Prizes will be
available to kids who participate….details will follow when final
details are ironed out.
Don’t
be shy…Get Involved...Lets make our Association and this Hockey
Year
Simply the BEST!!
